The ADDCAR HWM System was conceived on a scrap piece of paper in the back of a pick-up truck in the late 1980s by Larry Addington. In 1990 System No.1 commenced operations in Boomer County West Virginia and since then, over 120 million tonnes have been mined and the ADDCAR system has proven to be one of the most productive NS lowest cost mining systems available.
With many mines around the world now approaching economic limits or facing other constraints, the ADDCAR HWM System is experiencing a resurgence in applicability and demand.

Meet The Team
Johnny Sturgill
President
Johnny Sturgill has been with ADDCAR from day one and has over 40 years of Highwall and Surface mining experience. Johnny is recognized and respected as a key leader in the Highwall Mining Sector. Johnny holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky
John Baird
Chief Technology Officer
John is a University of Pennsylvania Mechanical Engineering graduate with over 35 years of industry experience, 30 of which has been with ADDCAR. John has been a critical element in designing and developing the ADDCAR Highwall Mining System with a focus on delivering continuous innovations to meet our customer's needs.
Starting out in underground coal mines in Australia, Greg has over 25 years of international experience in executive management, engineering, marketing, project management and geological positions. Greg's strength is to align multi-disciplinary teams with corporate strategy to ensure project success. Greg holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Earth Science (Geology) from the University of Queensland in Australia.
